Outdoor Opportunities was established in 2009 by Sean Soard and Jake Burkhart in an effort to rekindle a love and appreciation of the outdoors in today's youth. To date, Outdoor Opportunities has implemented four programs in two schools within the Mt. Pleasant, MI Public School District. O2 programs combine mentorship with competitive games and activities to teach children important life skills. Through teamwork, students learn leadership abilities and foster a love for the natural world.
Since 2009, Outdoor Opportunities has become an officially recognized non-profit within the state of Michigan and has trained over thirty counselors to implement 36 weeks of programming. In this tenure, nearly 100 students ranging from second grade through sixth grade have been served.
